PostSubject: Day 5: Sqzerg   Thu Jul 31, 2008 9:54 pm

I had decided it was finally time for me to get outside and get moving around again, now that I felt better. I knew exactly where I was going to go too, the Industrial Zone. I needed some heavy duty glue to keep my halberd from falling apart, as the fishing wire was already fraying. I looked at the blade and ran my finger lightly over it, examining my finger afterwards. There was no cut. The blade was getting dull too, so I might also need a grinding wheel…

I crept outside cautiously, looking around for any Crazed. Not that it did much good, since the fog was lying thick around here. I didn’t hear their usual hungry cries, but then again I knew that those giant spiders were nesting close by around here. Against my judgment to stay close to walls to avoid the Crazed, I went out in the open to avoid any Arachni. The image of an Arachni bursting through a wall and dragging the screaming Crazed away was still fresh in my mind; I didn’t want that to happen to me.

-A few minutes later; 30 minutes is assumed-

It didn’t take long for me to reach the Port, it was dead silent in the Market, and that was pretty odd. The silence disturbed me more than the screams of Crazed and the clicking of the Arachni. Something told me I didn’t want to be on the ground, so I hastily climbed up the staircase of an old boathouse onto the roof. I laid low and looked around. Near the Port dock, Crazed were still gathered in large numbers looking out to shore, and yet, in the streets and buildings the Crazed were scarce. They seemed to be looking out for something; in the direction were that huge meteor crashed just last night. Suddenly, they all fled towards the Port waters, screeching and running frantically. Then I heard a worse sound, it was like the Crazed screams, but much louder and terrifying. Instinctively, I made myself as small as possible on the roof and peered over the edge. What looked like a green tumbleweed rolled by, screeching that dreadful sound. It was headed in the direction of Dispari Tower, and took no notice of anything in the way, crashing through multiple buildings. Was there a human body in the middle of the tumbleweed? It sent chills down my spine.

After waiting for a bit, I decided that the Crazed at the dock weren’t going to come any closer to the buildings or the path were the “tumbleweed” went through so I descended the stairs and headed off towards the Industrial Zone; darting in between buildings. It was strange how I walked about town now. I noticed that I walked faster, and never in a long straight path. The fog was already changing me in some way, it took willpower to walk normally on the street as I usually would, and I could only walk like that for about a minute before it felt too unsafe and I reverted.

I reached the small stretch of land to the entrance, looking at the holes those Wyrms made. I could imaging them bursting out of the ground just as that man had described to me. He said the ground shook before they struck though. Remembering that, I tensed, feeling the ground through my shoes. Nothing. Steeling myself, I bolted across, avoiding any holes. I entered the Industrial Zone without much difficulty, but I knew from here and on it would not be so easy.
